What
is included in the price?
There are no additional charges - the price you see is the price you pay. The following are provided - some cottages have even more, see the individual cottage descriptions:
We have tried to make the cottages a home-from-home so hopefully you will find most things you need at the cottage. These are self-catering cottages so you will need to bring (or buy locally) your own food and other supplies you may need. The cost of your holiday includes bed linen (though not linen for cots), quality towels and face flannels for each guest. As part of your starter pack, we will also equip the cottage with:
Is there anywhere nearby to eat?
Our part of the Peak District is well served by pubs and restaurants. All our cottages are situated within walking distance of village pubs which serve good food. A short drive will take you to nearby towns, where you will have a wider choice of restaurants to choose from. In each cottage you will find the menus from many local establishments, recommended by previous guests. <back to top>
Can we order our groceries to be delivered?
You can order groceries from Tesco Direct and they will deliver them to the cottage for you. Please discuss this with us close to your arrival date and we will give you the relevant details for their web-site and arrangements for delivery. <back to top>
Can we arrange for special items to be left in the cottage?
If it is a special occasion and you want a surprise present left in the cottage for your arrival - flowers, Champagne, chocolates etc - call us and we can arrange that for you. <back to top>
What are the arrival and departure times?
The cottages will normally be available any time after 3pm on the day of your arrival. It would be helpful if you let us know your likely time of arrival so we can meet you and show you around. You should plan to vacate the cottage no later 10 am on your day of departure to give us time to prepare it for the next visitors. <back to top>
We welcome, by arrangement a well-behaved dog which is not allowed upstairs or on the furniture and which must not be left unattended in the cottage. We do not charge extra for dogs.
Because the Peak District is a sheep farming area, your dog must obviously be kept under close control. <back to top>
Out of consideration to other visitors who will subsequently occupy the cottage, we ask guests not to smoke inside.

What are the deposit arrangements?
A deposit is payable (see here) when you confirm your booking. The deposit is theoretically non-returnable if you cancel your holiday any time after making your booking - in practice, if you find that you have to cancel we will try our best to re-let the cottage and would make a you a refund (the amount you will receive varies - see here). We would always advise you to arrange holiday cancellation insurance if you are worried about this particular issue.
The balance is payable 6 weeks before the start of your holiday. See here for more information on our booking conditions.
We accept payments by:

We do not charge booking fees or to use a credit/debit card.
Church Corner Cottage (Yolugrave) has village shops within 1 minutes walk. The nearest shops for Hillocks Cottage (Kniveton) and The Nook are about 3 miles away in Ashbourne. Clipshead Farm Cottage is 3 miles from the shops in Wirksworth.
All our cottages are within easy reach of towns - such as Bakewell, Matlock, Ashbourne - which are well served by the high-street names as well as locally-owned shops.
Are there any churches nearby?
Each of the villages where our cottages are located has its own church with regular Sunday services. The information pack in each cottage provides details for these and churches of other denominations nearby. Please contact us for further details.
We have done our best to make our booking conditions fair to both parties and to write them in simple 'plain English' rather than in legal terms. You can find our booking conditions here.
If you are interested in making a booking or want more information, please contact us to check the availability of dates or to request further information. Normally, the school holidays and half terms get booked well in advance so we recommend an early contact. Click here for more information on making a booking.
