Our business is built upon offering good value to guests in quality accommodation. It seems to work for us. Our occupancy levels are very high throughout the year – in 2009 we achieved over 45 bookings at each of our cottages. Bookings for 2010 are running at a similar level. In addition to attracting new guests with our extensive marketing campaigns, we are now generating a significant amount of repeat and recommendation-based business.

Therefore, we are currently looking to increase our portfolio by taking on a small number of holiday cottages on an agency basis. But we are only looking for owners who share our vision and approach:

Service: We offer guests a very personalised service, keeping in touch with them at all stages in their holiday to make sure they get everything they need. We have tried to make our booking process as simple as possible – no forms to fill out – and then we give each guest a personalised confirmation of their booking along with tailored pack of information about their cottage and local tourist information. We are available on the ‘phone 9am – 9pm everyday to speak with guests (we offer a 24x7 support number for guests during their stay should there be any problems). We aim to answer any emails within an hour. All our guests are met at their cottage on arrival to provide a warm welcome, the opportunity to show them around and offer helpful information on what to do and see during their stay and give them the keys.

Flexibility: Unlike many other companies who insist on ‘standard’ start days or do not allow short breaks during the peak season, with Peak Holidays a 5 night stay, starting on a Wednesday in August is no problem! All our cottages are available throughout the year and we will always be flexible wherever we can, to accommodate the start date / day and length of holiday guests prefer.

Quality: Most guests coming to stay in a holiday cottage are looking for a home-from-home; some are looking to live the dream of staying in a country cottage for a while. Our cottages are equipped to a high standard and we add plenty of ‘extras’ so they feel like a home rather than a stark shell equipped with the bare minimum to meet a chosen standard.  We always choose good quality, robust and easy to clean furnishings or have spares ready to replace any stained/ fading or broken furnishings immediately that they are identified.

Cleanliness: Why would anyone want to stay in a cottage that only scores 75% for cleanliness – the requirement for the VisitBritain 4* self-catering standard? In our view, there is never any excuse for a cottage not to be spotlessly clean for every new guest – 100% clean 100% of the time.

Transparency: With some agencies there are ‘extras’ that must be paid for over and above the advertised price when the booking is made: a booking fee, charge to use a credit card, an additional cost for pets, payments for linen and fuel charges, insurance, a good-housekeeping bond etc. With one leading agency a cottage shown as £360 for 2 weeks could actually cost £480 by the time all the extras are added on. We have a simple pricing policy: to start with, we price our cottages competitively and “the price you see on our web-site is the price you pay” - no booking fees, no charge to pay with a credit card, pets welcome at no extra charge, fuel, bed-linen and towels are included.  

We want to be able to say honestly that we recommend the cottage rather than just promote it. Simply, we want to work with people who care as much as we do.
